The T group Logical Nodes defined in IEC 61850 7-4 provide the instantaneous Sampled Value of analogue quantities covering a wide range of analogue quantities as listed below. These LN use the SV Common Data Class defined in IEC 61850 7-3.
The application will determine whether these Sampled Values are taken once per year/month/week/day/hour/minute/second or even shorter.
These are typically going to be transmitted using Publisher/Subscriber as defined in IEC 61850-9-2
In the case of current and voltage typically associated with the CT and VT instrument transformers, we have the well known TCTR and TVTR with the specific application defined in the UCAIUG Guideline IEC 61850 9-2LE with either 80 or 256 samples per 50 Hz or 60Hz cycle.Â
If some 'processing' of the analogue samples is needed to create derived measurements such as r.m.s values or positive/negative/zero sequence components, these are provided in the M group, but these are therefore not sampled values, but rather MV Common Data Class defined in IEC 61850 7-3.
These can be combined with S group, H group, and P group for a variety of applications in any automation, control or SCADA application - e.g. water industries, gas industries, general industrial processes etc.
